Hello Detroit! I am John R. Eddings, candidate for the Detroit Charter Commission, finishing 12th in the August Primary. My candidacy is based on a strong belief that revisions of the City Charter are critical to the rebuilding of our great city.

The Charter Commission has a tremendous responsibility to ensure a healthy, secure and prosperous future for Detroit and all its residents. I remain committed to our city, our neighborhoods and my fellow citizens. I respectfully request and welcome the opportunity to earn your vote and support.

Residence:
I have been a resident of Detroit since 1950 where I continue to reside today with my wife in northwest Detroit. Our daughter and her family also live in Detroit.

Education:
Graduate of Hampton University, in Virginia, Class of 1965
Graduate of Detroit Northwestern High School, Class of 1961

Public Servant:
Served Detroit citizens for more than thirty years as City Ombudsman, Deputy Director of Civic Center Department, Deputy Director of Human Resources and several other civil service positions.

Recommendations on Key Issues Confronting the Charter Commission:
1. The method of electing City Council members: Recommend a combina-tion of six (6) districts and three (3) at-large Council members
2. An independent City Attorney to run the Law Department
3. Enforceable penalties for officials that violate the Detroit City Charter
4. Authorizing a stronger Ethics Commission

Community Coalition to Host Wings with Winners Event

The Community Coalition is inviting all Detroit residents to meet and mingle with the candidates they have endorsed for the November 3rd 2009 General Election. The event will be held on Wednesday October 21st 2009 at the Laborers Local 1191 located at 2161 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit MI from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM.

In addition, the Community Coalition urges voters to vote yes on Ballot Proposals S, D and O
The public and media are welcome to mix and mingle with the candidates chosen by the Community Coalition at the Wings with Winners event. The Community coalition has just completed mailing Slates to 47,000 Absentee Voters. On October 24th they will GOTV flush the 100 highest voting Precincts in Detroit and on Election Day they will be covering the top 100 polls with their Slate.
